Sumedang (13/3) – PT Adhi Karya, in collaboration with PT Alkatec Mandiri Kencana, is planning to implement Dinar Geofoam Class 22 technology, produced by PT Dinar Makmur, for the construction of the strategic national project, the Cisumdawu Toll Road (Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan) Sections 5A and 5B, specifically at STA 40+200. The target is to have it operational by Eid al-Fitr 2023. The application of Dinar Geofoam Class 22 technology is driven by the need for accelerated construction and the low bearing capacity of the soil, requiring improvement to achieve the required DDT (Design Traffic Demand) value. The Cisumdawu Toll Road Sections 5A and 5B stretch from Legok to Ujung Jaya, covering a distance of 14.9 km.
Geofoam technology itself has been available as an effective and efficient soil improvement solution since 1972 in Norway. The use of Geofoam is considered effective in improving poor soil conditions and efficient in terms of construction time and manpower requirements. This technology has been adapted in various parts of the world, including Indonesia by PT Dinar Makmur. PT Dinar Makmur is an EPS (expanded polystyrene) and EPP (expanded polypropylene) manufacturing company that has been operating since 1962 in Indonesia, and they have introduced this technology to Indonesia under the product name Dinar Geofoam. PT Dinar Makmur produces Dinar Geofoam in various classes, in accordance with international standards such as ASTM D6817, and it has obtained a TKDN (Local Content Level) certificate above 40%. Dinar Geofoam has been widely used in various construction projects, including buildings, roads, and water structures. In the collaboration between PT Adhi Karya and PT Alkatec Mandiri Kencana, the Dinar Geofoam to be used will be Dinar Geofoam Class 22, with a compressive resistance strength of 50 kPa at 1% strain.
Dinar Geofoam is often misunderstood as the styrofoam commonly used in everyday needs. The difference between Dinar Geofoam and styrofoam lies in the base material used, the processing method of the base material, and its fire resistance. Dinar Geofoam uses EPS (expanded polystyrene), which is a material that is fire-resistant and environmentally friendly. Additionally, Dinar Geofoam has a very low compressive creep value of 1%. With its extremely lightweight material, Dinar Geofoam only imposes a 5% load compared to the load generated by conventional soil embankments.
The use of Dinar Geofoam helps shorten the construction time as the materials are delivered in a ready-to-install condition. During on-site installation, the applicator only needs to arrange the pre-marked blocks according to the installation plan. Heavy machinery is not required for its installation due to the lightweight nature of Dinar Geofoam. As a product manufactured in a factory with strict quality control in each production process, the quality of Dinar Geofoam is beyond doubt.
